Waterproof printing service
What is encapsulation?
Encapsulation is the process of covering a printed sheet in plastic, which provides extra protection and durability. It is often mistakenly referred to as lamination. Encapsulated sheets are printed on 100 gsm matt paper (or 80 gsm if coloured paper) and covered with a clear plastic film.
Does encapsulation make documents waterproof?
Yes, encapsulation will waterproof your documents. This makes it a popular choice for menus, placemats, maps, notices, signs and documents for use outdoors.
Encapsulation vs. Lamination
Encapsulation involves covering both sides of the printed sheet with plastic and securing it with a plastic border. This makes it watertight.
In contrast, lamination is when a thin layer is applied to one side of the printed sheet only. Lamination is not watertight. Lamination is available for loose sheets - click to view.
