The country is slowly opening up for business, but with so many different rules around, it can be hard for customers or clients to remember what to do to remain as safe as possible when out shopping or getting their hair cut. Earlier this month, non-essential shops were allowed<\/a> to open for the first time since March 23rd<\/sup>; takeaway services from high street chains have also resumed, including McDonald\u2019s and Starbucks; meanwhile, salons and pubs are expected to welcome the public back on July 4th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, these premises have to commit to protecting visitors against coronavirus by meeting Covid-19\u2019s secure guidelines from the government<\/a>. These include frequently cleaning regularly-touched surfaces; installing Perspex screens at tills; putting down floor markings to keep people two metres from each other; placing protective coverings on large items that are touched by the public; storing returned goods for 72 hours before putting them back on for sale; and placing guidance around the building to inform customers of the new rules.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Josh Hardie, deputy director general of the Confederation of British Industry (CBI), said: \u201cOur shops are doing all they can to keep the public and their staff safe, and we\u2019ve seen many retailers leading from the front with innovative solutions to do just that. As more and more businesses turn their attention to reopening, this guidance will help them plan to do so safely and securely.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Re-opening the high street and allowing businesses to operate within the safety perimeters will provide a significant boost to the UK economy after being hit hard due to lockdown restrictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Business secretary Alok Sharma said: \u201cEnabling these businesses to open will be a critical step on the road to rebuilding our economy, and will support millions of jobs across the UK.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, in order to get up and running again without risking a second peak of coronavirus deaths, it is important companies implement the safety measures according to the guidance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What\u2019s more, it is essential the public also adhere to the precautions, such as not flouting the two-metre rule or touching items they do not intend on buying. They will be more likely to maintain social distancing guidelines if they are constantly reminded of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is why putting lots of posters around the premises with the rules clearly displayed is critical in letting customers know what is expected of them when they visit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Otherwise, stores, salons, pubs, restaurants and caf\u00e9s will be unable to ensure safe environments for their staff as well as other customers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The same is true for dental practices, doctor surgeries, schools and offices, which are all slowly re-opening across the UK.
